For most people, Bausch + Lomb ULTRA One Day lenses are a premium daily disposable contact lenses. Wearers rave about the moisture and the sturdy, easy-to-handle feel. The most common complaints are a lens that some people notice by the end of a long day and a little extra glare at night. They won’t be everyone’s holy grail, but if dry eyes or long screen days are your daily struggle, they’re well worth a conversation with your optometrist.
We pulled together three things for this review: real wearer feedback, Bausch + Lomb’s own manufacturer data, and the published specs for the lens. We’ve kept the manufacturer claims and the wearer opinions clearly separate, so you can see what’s marketing and what’s lived experience.
ULTRA One Day at a Glance
Here are the key specs for the spherical (single vision) ULTRA One Day lens.
What Wearers Like?
We’re drawing on a detailed review from a long-time Acuvue wearer on Reddit’s r/contacts community. He switched after his usual lens was discontinued, and he compared ULTRA One Day directly with Acuvue TruEye and Acuvue Oasys Max. Here’s what stood out.
Moisture retention and dryness
This is the big one. The reviewer says ULTRA One Day holds onto moisture very well, and that he felt less urge to blink while staring at a computer screen than he did even in the Oasys Max. He still reminds himself to blink (good habit!), but the lenses don’t make him feel like he has to fight dryness to get through a workday. Thus, it may be one of the best daily contacts for dry eyes.
It lines up with what Bausch + Lomb says about the lens. We cover the technology behind that claim further down.
Thin, sturdy material and a stable fit
The same wearer describes the lens as thin but much stronger than the Acuvue lenses he’d used. His analogy is that his old lenses felt like sponge, while ULTRA One Day feels closer to swim cap material. It’s a quirky comparison, but the point is that the lens holds its shape well.
He also found the lens stays put. It doesn’t shift around on his eye and has never fallen out during normal wear.
A quick, important note: he mentions soaking and reusing these one-day lenses to test how well they keep their shape. Please don’t do that. Daily disposables are designed to be worn once and thrown away, because a fresh sterile pair every day is a big part of what keeps your eyes healthy. More on that below.
Handling and ease of insertion
Bausch + Lomb describes ULTRA One Day as easy to handle, with a soft, smooth and weightless feel. That’s the manufacturer’s claim, not a wearer verdict. The sturdiness the Reddit reviewer describes does suggest a lens that’s less likely to lose its shape between the case-free blister pack and your eye.
What Some Wearers Don’t Like?
No lens works for every eye, and an honest review has to say so.
Noticeable on the eye, tiring after about 9 to 11 hours
This is the main criticism from our Reddit reviewer. Compared with Acuvue TruEye and Oasys Max, where he felt like he was wearing nothing, he could feel ULTRA One Day on his eyes. In the morning that wasn’t uncomfortable. Around the 9 to 11 hour mark, though, he felt the urge to switch to his glasses.
That doesn’t mean the lens fails after nine hours. Comfort depends on your tear film, your eye shape, your environment and how well the lens fits. But if you regularly wear lenses from early morning to late night, it’s something to raise with your optometrist.
Night glare
The same reviewer found glare slightly worse than with his old Acuvue lenses, and he noticed a little more of it during night driving. If you drive after dark a lot, mention it at your fitting.
His overall verdict is still positive: if the price is right, he considers these among the best-rated daily contact lenses, though he personally still prefers Oasys Max for all-day comfort.
How Moistureseal and Comfortfeel Technology Work Together?
These are the two technologies Bausch + Lomb builds into ULTRA One Day. Everything in this section is the manufacturer’s claim.
- Advanced MoistureSeal technology is designed to retain moisture in the lens. Bausch + Lomb says the lens retains 96% of its moisture for up to 16 hours, and in its own testing found that it held more moisture after 16 hours of use than Dailies Total1 and Acuvue Oasys 1-Day.
- ComfortFeel technology infuses the lens with a solution of moisturizing and eye-health ingredients, aimed at keeping the eye comfortable through the day.
Who Ultra One Day Suits Best?
Based on the specs and wearer feedback, ULTRA One Day is a strong match if you:
- Spend long hours on screens and want to feel less dryness
- Struggle with lenses that feel dry by mid-afternoon
- Lead an active lifestyle and want a lens that stays put
- Like a lens that feels sturdy and easy to handle
You might want to ask your optometrist about alternatives if you:
- Wear lenses from early morning until very late at night most days
- Drive a lot after dark and are sensitive to glare
- Want a lens you barely feel at all, even in the first few hours
How Long Can You Wear Them?
Bausch + Lomb says ULTRA One Day can be worn for up to 16 hours. That’s the maximum, not a target. Your own comfort limit might be shorter, and that’s fine. If your eyes tell you it’s time to switch to glasses, listen to them.
Can you sleep in ULTRA One Day lenses? No. Daily disposables aren’t designed for overnight wear unless an eye care professional has specifically told you otherwise. Take them out before bed.
Can you reuse them? No. Please don’t wear them more than once, soak them, or try to stretch them over a few days. A fresh, sterile pair each day is the whole point of a daily disposable, and reusing lenses raises your risk of eye infection.
How Do They Compare to Other Daily Lenses?
Here’s a quick snapshot of how ULTRA One Day sits next to the other premium dailies people commonly compare it with.
The base curve difference between ULTRA One Day and Precision1 matters because a lens has to sit, move and center properly on your eye. Even when the prescription power is the same, lenses aren’t interchangeable, so don’t switch brands without checking with your optometrist.
Where to Buy Ultra One Day Lenses?
You’ll need a valid contact lens prescription to order. Check that the brand, lens type, base curve, diameter and power on your prescription match what you’re ordering exactly. If anything doesn’t line up, check with your optometrist before you buy.
