Product Information
Acuvue Oasys with Transitions™ is a first-of-its-kind contact lens that seamlessly adapts to challenging light environments, such as when playing sports or staring at a digital screen. These innovative contacts also balance the amount of indoor and outdoor light that enters your eyes to reduce the stressful impact that light can have on them.
Features & Benefits
Acuvue Oasys with Transitions contacts (in 6 or 25 pack) are 2-week lenses, which means they’re designed to be worn daily for 2 weeks before being replaced with a fresh pair of lenses. These contacts are not approved for overnight wear, so they need to be removed, cleaned, and stored nightly.
Featuring Johnson & Johnson's innovative Transitions™ Light Intelligent Technology™, Acuvue Oasys with Transitions contacts adapt to changing light, both indoors and out. When exposed to UV and/or HEV light, these contacts darken slightly for protection. This darkening effect covers both the pupil and iris, but it won’t dramatically change the appearance of your eyes. The tint is necessary to protect your eyes, especially if they’re sensitive to sunlight. It also helps reduce the stressful impact that light can have on your eyes.
Acuvue Oasys with Transitions contacts also offer the highest level of UV protection in a contact lens (blocks 100% of UVB and >99% of UVA rays). They also provide up to 38% better color contrast. Additionally, these contacts help reduce haloes and starbursts at night to ensure crisp, clear vision.
Who They’re For
This contact lens is made for anyone who is far or near-sighted or anyone looking for light management benefits, along with the ultimate in convenience. This product is currently not available for people with astigmatism or presbyopia. The iris—the colored part of the eye—is the eye’s primary defense against bright light. When intense light rays hit the eye, the iris responds by “closing” to change the size of the pupil. This helps protect the retina—the light-sensitive layer lining the back wall inside the eye—from bright light. This defense mechanism is important because bright light can damage the retina and affect vision. Blue light from digital screens can also damage the retina over time.
One of the simplest ways to protect your eyes from retinal light damage is to wear sunglasses with anti-reflective lenses. These glasses help reduce glare from bright indoor and outdoor light, as well as blue light from digital screens. Dark-tinted glasses and polarized sunglasses with UV protection also help shield your eyes from the damaging effects of bright light. However, these options aren't ideal for people who prefer the convenience of contact lenses.
Fortunately, Johnson & Johnson, one of the world's largest consumer health companies, has created Acuvue Oasys with Transitions. These contacts “change with light” thanks to their unique Transitions photochromic technology, which is designed to specifically activate within Acuvue Oasys brand contact lenses. Thanks to this technology, the lenses are able to reduce the stressful impact of bright light on your eyes by helping them recover from bright light.

Acuvue Oasys with Transitions FAQs
Acuvue lenses with Transitions are 2-week lenses, therefore they are designed to be worn daily for two weeks before being replaced with a fresh set. They must be removed, cleaned and stored at the end of each day.
Who makes Acuvue Oasys with Transitions 25PK contacts?
Acuvue Oasys with Transitions 25PK contacts are made by Johnson & Johnson, and sold on Lens.com.
Acuvue Oasys with Transitions are not approved for overnight wear, they must be removed at the end of each day, cleaned and stored until the next day. Overnight conditions require lenses that can work in a reduced oxygen environment, therefore it's necessary to use lenses specifically designed and approved for this use.
These lenses darken when activated by UV or HEV light, for example from sunlight that directly reaches the eye and not through a glass window which blocks some UV. Acuvue designed them to minimally change the appearance of the eye. That said, the darkening effect does occur across the lens, covering the pupil and iris. But the effect is not a black-out type of look, the shade is merely darker. It is noticeable but this is how the lens effectively provides the tint necessary to help wearers that are especially sensitive to sunlight.
