Product Information

Enjoy clear vision at all distances, near through far, with Alcon Air Optix® plus HydraGlyde® Multifocal (6 PK). Featuring a unique combination of technologies from Alcon, these contact lenses give wearers with presbyopia the comfortable lens-wearing experience they deserve.

Features & Benefits

Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal are monthly disposable contacts designed to address presbyopia — an age-related eye condition that makes nearby objects appear blurry. They can be worn daily for 30 days or continuously for up to 6 nights and 7 days, after which they must be removed, disposed of, and replaced with a fresh pair of lenses.

These contacts feature Alcon's innovative Precision-Profile® design, which allows for a range of prescription strengths to blend across the lens. This design also works with your eyes' natural function so that you can see objects clearly near and far away.

These contacts also feature two of Alcon’s proprietary technologies, SmartShield® Technology and HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix technology, to ensure long-lasting lens surface moisture. SmartShield Technology works by protecting the lens from irritating deposits from day 1 to day 30. It also supports a stable tear film and maintains wettability. HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix, on the other hand, helps keep the lens surface hydrated throughout the day.

Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal contacts are also made of lotrafilcon B — a highly breathable lens material that allows plenty of oxygen to pass through the lens for white, clear, and healthy-looking eyes.

HydraGlyde is an Air Optix exclusive, that covers the surface of the lens with an advanced wetting agent to promote moistness throughout the day.

Who They’re For

Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal contact lenses are for people who have vision problems due to presbyopia. Thanks to their Precision Profile design, these contacts allow wearers with presbyopia to smoothly transition between near, intermediate, and far distances.

Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal contacts are also particularly suited for people with presbyopia who want to do away with bulky reading glasses or bifocals. If you have presbyopia and you want to switch to these contacts, consult your eye care professional (ECP).

About Presbyopia

Presbyopia occurs when the lens of the eye begins to harden and lose flexibility as a result of aging. Due to the eye's inability to properly focus, objects appear blurry. People most often begin to notice this shift in their vision sometime around the age of 40. From then until about the age of 65, presbyopia will gradually get worse. Those who think they are exempt due to the fact that they have always had perfect eyesight are likely still out of luck, as presbyopia eventually catches up with practically everyone. When presbyopia shows up, you may notice an inability to focus on reading material up close. Others may experience headaches or eye strain while looking at nearby objects.

Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal FAQs

Can you take a nap in Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal contacts?

Yes, you can nap in Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal lenses. As Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal is approved for overnight wear (a full night's sleep), napping in them for a short period of time is not a problem. As always though, make sure you're OK to do so with your ECP even if they are technically approved as every individual's situation is different. Whether sleeping overnight or napping with contacts, this is an environment that reduces the amount of oxygen that reaches your eye, hence the precautions you need to take in terms of choosing the right lens.

Extremely comfortable

The lenses are great. They are instantly comfortable and remain comfortable throughout the day. I had been using Air Optix Aqua for decades and was very happy with them, but they were discontinued and replaced with HydraGlydes. The HydraGlydes might be just a little bit more comfortable. A note of caution; I had the Covid booster together with the senior version of the Flu shot and the combination caused my corneas to swell, which made removal of the lens extremely difficult to the point of being frightening. A week after vaccinations the swelling had subsided and the lens was removable without incident. It must be noted that the only way I knew that my corneas were swollen was a result of investigating why the lens was so difficult to remove.
