Product Information

There are many reasons why disposable contact lenses have become so popular. For one thing, disposable contacts are comfortable. They’re also ultra-convenient and a much healthier choice for overall eye health than their non-disposable counterparts. So what are the drawbacks? Well, some people feel that disposable contacts will end up costing too much so they stick with their regular contact lenses. Fortunately, there’s a way to have all the benefits of disposable lenses without spending too much money.

Biomedics 55 contact lenses are quality disposable lenses offered at an affordable price. Biomedics 55, also known as Ultraflex 55 (and several other names), are manufactured by Ocular Sciences. While you may not be familiar with the name, Ocular Sciences has been around since 1997. In 2004, they became a part of CooperVision — another highly trusted contact lens manufacturer.

To help provide protection from the sun, Biomedics 55 contact lenses are UV-absorbing. Please note that although Biomedics 55 absorb many harmful UV rays, it’s still recommended that users wear UV-blocking sunglasses as contact lenses only cover a small portion of the eye.

There are plenty of contact lenses on the market claiming to have a high water content. While the added moisture can help reduce dry-eye symptoms, it also makes the lenses more fragile. Biomedics 55 contact lenses have a lower water content so they’re far more durable than those boasting an exceptionally high water content. To make the lenses even easier to handle, Biomedics 55 are made with a light blue tint so they're easier to see during insertion and removal. The blue tint of the lenses is for ease-of-use purposes only and it will not change the appearance of your eyes.

Disposable contacts typically come with daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly replacement schedules. Biomedics 55 contacts are 1-2 week disposable contact lenses which means that you can wear them daily for up to 2 weeks and then discard them for a fresh, brand new pair. Regularly changing your lenses helps to keep eyes healthy and bright as there is less time for irritants and protein to accumulate on the contacts.

With Biomedics 55 contacts you get crisp vision, easy handling, and lasting freshness. Even better, if you purchase Biomedics 55 contacts from Lens.com, you’ll get all of these benefits at a surprisingly low price. When you’re ready to give weekly contacts a try, be sure to purchase from Lens.com — we regularly browse competitor sites to ensure we offer the lowest price.

What is the water content of Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55)?

Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55) contacts have a water content of 55%. The higher the water content in a contact lens, the more oxygen reaches the cornea during lens wear. There are other factors at play however so water content alone isn't enough of a factor to judge a lens' performance for a given person. High water content lenses can feel comfortable initially but may dry out over time, but this is not always the case. So it's good to know about the water content of a lens, but it's not everything. Consult your ECP to find out the best options for you.

Choose your lens, provide us with the contact info of your ECP and we'll do the rest. If your ECP is unable to respond to our request for the info needed in a timely manner, your lenses will automatically be shipped out to you. This is the process put in place by the FTC to ensure your rights as a consumer.

Can I use my eyeglass prescription for Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55) contact lenses?

Unfortunately no, you can't use your eyeglass prescription for Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55) lenses. Your eyeglass prescription only has the power part of the contact lens prescription. In addition to the power, the proper base curve (BC) and diameter (DIA) are needed to order contact lenses. Contact lenses come in different sizes and must be fit to your eye by an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist. As a replacement center, we can only sell you contact lenses that you are already wearing successfully. So ultimately eyeglass prescriptions are not the same as a prescription for Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55) contacts. See an ECP/optometrist if you're looking for a contact lens prescription and fitting as a first-time-wearer.

Is Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55) contact lens FDA-approved?

Yes, Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55) is FDA-approved. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulates all contact lenses as prescription medical devices and thus must go through an approval process, after which they can be legally sold in the US (if approved). Lens.com sells only FDA-approved contact lenses. From lenses to address near, farsightedness, astigmatism, and even cosmetic lenses, our inventory consists only of FDA-approved contacts.

Are Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55) sold on Lens.com authentic? Why is it cheaper than other vendors?

Yes, all contacts sold on Lens.com are 100% authentic, including Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55) and come with a money-back guarantee. Lens.com is able to sell contacts extremely competitively by buying and selling in volume, by smartly managing costs and overhead, and by accepting smaller but fairer profit margins versus other e-tailers and ECPs in exchange for building a satisfied customer base. We stand by our product and offer 24/7 live-customer support.

How old do you have to be to wear Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55) contact lenses?

Like most contacts, including Biomedics 55 (UltraFlex 55), they can be worn by teens and potentially pre-teens as well, per the direction of an ECP. In general, there is no fixed minimum age for wearing contacts, as it's a judgment call based on lifestyle habits, budget, and of course your ECP's guidance. Contacts do require care and consistency in usage and maintenance/cleaning and these are the lifestyle factors you should consider when thinking about contacts for a child.

great 2 week contacts

Best Contacts EVER

I have been wearing Biomedics for over 20 years. These are the only contacts I can wear. They don't slide around your eye or dry out. I had these problems with others. I would recommend Biomedics to anyone!

my favorite contacts so far

These contacts are so much more easy to deal with compared to other two week disposables. I found that others didn't last two weeks and they would up costing me more money.
