ACUVUE OASYS with HYDRACLEAR® PLUS is a popular two-week silicone hydrogel lens known for comfort, UV blocking, and strong oxygen performance. Among the many disposable contact lenses available, it stands out for combining a biweekly replacement schedule with moisture-focused technology.
If you are looking for cheap contacts or more affordable alternatives to ACUVUE OASYS in 2026, there are lower cost options your eye doctor may consider. Some keep the same two week replacement schedule, while others change the material or replacement timing to help you save.
What Are Biweekly Contact Lenses?
Biweeklies, or 2 week contact lenses, are replaced every 14 days according to the schedule prescribed by your eye care professional. Many are designed for daily wear and must be removed at night, although some may be approved for extended wear when specifically prescribed. For shoppers comparing discount contact lenses, biweekly options can provide a practical balance between the convenience of frequent replacement and the lower ongoing cost of reusable, cheap contact lenses.
Why ACUVUE OASYS Can Cost More
ACUVUE OASYS is a 2-week silicone hydrogel (senofilcon A) lens with 38% water content and Class 1 UV blocking (highest UV-blocking class for contacts).
That combination (material + comfort tech + UV class) is often priced higher than older hydrogel designs.
Advantages and Tradeoffs of Biweekly Contacts
Biweekly contacts can be a nice middle ground between dailies and monthlies. If your goal is to save on contacts, their lower ongoing cost compared with some daily lenses may be worth discussing with your eye doctor. They still need consistent cleaning and smart wear habits.
Why People Like Them
-
Less waste than dailies (fewer lenses used)
-
Often cheaper than dailies over time
-
More frequent replacement than monthlies (helpful if you build deposits)
Tradeoffs
-
You still need consistent cleaning/disinfection (unlike dailies)
-
Sleeping in lenses increases infection risk unless specifically prescribed and even then, risk is higher

And a quick reminder for online buyers: reputable sellers verify prescriptions, and under the FTC Contact Lens Rule, a prescription may be verified if the prescriber doesn’t respond within eight business hours.
