If you search “best contact lenses” on TikTok, you won’t just find influencers showing off colored contacts. You will find a growing community of actual Optometrists (ODs) sharing their medical expertise with millions of viewers.
These doctors are debunking myths, showing proper hygiene, and most importantly, revealing the specific brands they prescribe to their own patients. But do these “Doctor-Approved” lenses live up to the hype?
We reviewed three viral videos from top optometrists on TikTok to see which lenses made the cut, what makes them special, and the few insider details the doctors forgot to mention.
1. The "Top 5" Daily Lenses
Who: Dr. Angelica Cifuentes (@tinyoptometrist)
The Vibe: Dr. Cifuentes breaks down her top 5 daily disposable lenses, focusing on breathability and comfort.
Her Top Picks:
Our Reaction: This is a powerhouse list. Dr. Cifuentes highlights the “cream of the crop” in silicone hydrogel technology. We love that she includes Precision 1, which is often called the “little sister” to Dailies Total 1. It offers similar water-gradient technology but at a slightly more accessible price point, making it a favorite for younger wearers or first-timers.
What She Forgot to Mention: While these lenses are the gold standard for health, they are also premium products with a premium price tag at the doctor’s office.
Lens.com Pro Tip: You don’t have to pay full retail price for premium daily lenses. Because you buy these boxes every month (or 90 days), the cost adds up. Checking for manufacturer rebates on Lens.com can save you hundreds of dollars a year on these exact brands.
2. The Solution for Dry Eyes
Who: Bluebonnet Optometry (@bluebonnetoptometry)
The Vibe: This video focuses specifically on patients who suffer from dryness and discomfort.
The Recommendations:
Our Reaction: It is no surprise to see Acuvue Oasys Max here. It is one of the newest lenses on the market and is specifically designed with “TearStable” technology to lock in moisture. Similarly, INFUSE uses a unique material that maintains 96% of its moisture for a full 16 hours. If you feel like your contacts are “sandpaper” by 5 PM, these are the two heavy hitters to try.
What They Forgot to Mention: A great lens can only do so much if you aren’t blinking enough!
Did You Know? When we stare at phones or computers, our blink rate drops by 66%. Even the best lens for dry eyes (like the Oasys Max) needs you to blink to stay hydrated.
Pair these premium lenses with the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to reset your blink pattern.
3. The NYC Optometrist's Favorites
Who: Dr. Jennifer Tsai (@drjenandjuice)
The Vibe: Dr. Tsai is known for her stylish, educational content from New York City. She often emphasizes lenses that can withstand the “city lifestyle,” which consists of long work hours, pollution, and endless screen time.
Her Personal Favorites:
Our Reaction: Notice a pattern? All three doctors mentioned Acuvue Oasys 1-Day and Bausch & Lomb INFUSE One-Day. When multiple doctors across the country (from Florida to NYC) recommend the same lenses, it’s a good sign they work for a wide variety of eyes. Dr. Tsai’s list confirms that “Water Gradient” and breathable lenses are the modern standard for anyone living a busy, active lifestyle.
What She Forgot to Mention: These lenses are incredibly slippery!
Lens.com Pro Tip: The “Water Gradient” surface on lenses like Dailies Total 1 makes them feel like nothing is in your eye, but it also makes them very slippery to take out. If you struggle to remove them, dry your fingertips on a towel first. The extra friction from dry fingers will help you grip the lens surface much more easily.

Final Thoughts: Should You Switch?
The TikTok comments section is full of people asking, “Are these worth the money?” The consensus from both doctors and patients is a resounding yes.
Daily silicone hydrogel lenses are healthier, cleaner, and more comfortable than older lens technologies. While they are an investment, they protect your long-term eye health.
Ready to upgrade your lenses? You don’t need another appointment if you already have a valid prescription for these brands. Just search for your doctor’s recommendation on Lens.com to find the lowest price online.
