Creepy Contact Lenses

Shop a large selection of creepy contact lenses, novelty contacts, and special FX contacts with discounts of up to 70% on popular styles, so your scary costume gets the eye detail it deserves without draining the rest of your costume budget.

The fastest way to make a costume feel wrong in the best possible way is through the eyes. A blank stare, a strange pupil, a red iris, a cloudy gaze, or an all-black eye effect can push a look into the uncanny valley before the costume even says a word.

That's exactly what creepy contact lenses are made for. They can turn a vampire, clown, demon, ghost, zombie, doll, witch, or horror character into something truly haunting. Explore the novelty contact lenses below to find the perfect look for your next costume.

Are Creepy Contacts Cheaper Online Than in Stores?

Creepy contacts can cost less online than in stores because online shopping makes it easier to compare styles, prices, quantities, and current discounts in one place. A seasonal costume aisle gives you a smaller selection, while online novelty contact listings let you compare red, white, black, cat-eye, zombie, vampire, sclera, and Special FX designs.

The final cost depends on the product, quantity, shipping, taxes, fees, and current savings. Price is worth comparing, but it should not be the only factor. Creepy contacts still sit directly on the eye, so the seller should require prescription information.

Do You Still Need a Prescription for Costume Contacts?

Yes. In the U.S., costume contacts, creepy contacts, theatrical contacts, Halloween contacts, colored contacts, and Special FX contacts require a valid contact lens prescription, even when they do not correct vision. Plano contacts can change how your eyes look without adding vision correction, but they still need proper fitting.

Avoid sellers that treat creepy contacts like regular costume accessories. Decorative contacts are medical devices because they touch the eye. A poor fit, unsafe product, or wrong care routine can cause pain, scratches, infection, or more serious eye problems.

How to Read a Prescription for Contact Lenses

A contact lens prescription includes details that help match the lens to your eye. Before ordering creepy contacts, check the product name and each value listed for your right eye and left eye.

  • OD means right eye, while OS means left eye.
  • Power or PWR shows the lens strength if vision correction is needed.
  • Base curve or BC refers to the curve of the contact lens.
  • Diameter or DIA shows the lens width in millimeters.
  • Cylinder or CYL appears on toric prescriptions for astigmatism.
  • Axis also appears on toric prescriptions and helps position astigmatism correction.
  • Add power or ADD appears on multifocal prescriptions for near vision support.
  • Lens name tells you the exact contact lens fitted for your eyes.

For creepy contacts, also check whether the product is sold as one lens or a pair. Some novelty lenses are listed as one lens, so quantity affects what arrives in your order.

How to Buy Costume Contacts Online

Ordering costume contacts online is easier when you know the look you want and have your prescription details ready. Follow these steps when ordering at Lens.com:

  1. Search for the creepy, novelty, colored, or Special FX contact style you want.
  2. Check whether the product is sold as one lens or a pair.
  3. Choose the right quantity for one eye or both eyes.
  4. Enter your prescription values, or choose plano only when plano is listed on your prescription.
  5. Upload your prescription or enter your eye doctor's name and phone number so we can contact them for verification.
  6. Review the color, design, quantity, prescription values, shipping details, and final total before checkout.

Try creepy contacts before the event day. That gives you time to check comfort, visibility, makeup placement, lighting, and how the design looks in photos.

Can You Buy Creepy Contacts With Insurance?

Vision insurance can sometimes help with online contact lens purchases, but it depends on your plan. Costume, novelty, or Special FX contacts are often treated differently from standard vision-correction contacts, especially when the lenses are plano or purchased mainly for cosmetic use.

Before ordering, check your plan's contact lens allowance, out-of-network reimbursement rules, claim deadline, and excluded purchases. Some plans require an itemized receipt, a valid prescription, and a completed claim form before reimbursement is considered.

If your plan allows reimbursement, you will likely pay upfront and submit the claim afterward. Save your invoice, order confirmation, and any prescription details your insurer requests. Reimbursement approval and timing depend on your insurance provider.

Are Creepy Contacts Safe?

Creepy contacts are safest when they are prescribed, properly fitted, bought from a legal seller, and worn as directed. They become risky when people buy lenses without a prescription, share lenses, sleep in them, rinse them with water, or wear them longer than directed.

Remove creepy contacts right away if they feel uncomfortable. Do not push through pain, burning, redness, blurry vision, watering, or a scratchy feeling to finish a costume. If discomfort continues after removal, or if you notice pain, light sensitivity, discharge, swelling, or vision changes, contact an eye doctor as soon as possible.

If your creepy contacts feel uncomfortable, follow these steps:

  1. Wash and dry your hands before touching your eyes or lenses.
  2. Remove the contacts immediately instead of trying to "get used to" the discomfort.
  3. Check the lenses for tears, debris, makeup residue, or damage.
  4. Rinse reusable lenses only with fresh contact lens solution, never water or saliva.
  5. Give your eyes time to rest before attempting to reinsert the lenses.
  6. Do not share lenses or continue wearing a damaged pair.
  7. Stop wearing the contacts completely if redness, pain, blurry vision, or irritation continues.
  8. Contact an eye doctor right away if symptoms become severe or do not improve after removal.

Safe wear also depends on basic contact lens habits. Wash your hands before handling lenses, use fresh contact lens solution when storage is required, keep water away from contacts, and follow the replacement schedule listed for the lens.

Do Costume Contacts Expire?

Yes. Costume contacts expire, even when the box has never been opened. The expiration date on the box or blister pack tells you how long the sealed lens package is expected to stay sterile and safe for use.

Do not wear expired costume contacts. The packaging, solution, or lens condition can change over time, which can raise the chance of irritation, discomfort, or infection. If the package is expired, damaged, leaking, or opened before use, replace the lenses.

Your contact lens prescription also expires. Even if the costume contacts are still within date, you need a current valid prescription to order contact lenses in the U.S. If your prescription has expired, schedule an eye exam before buying more lenses.

Why Shop Lens.com

The right creepy contacts should be easy to find, easy to order, and worth the price. Lens.com helps costume shoppers compare savings, verify their prescription, and manage future refills when they need the same lenses again. Here's what to know before you buy.

Creepy Contact Lens Discounts And Rebates

Costume looks can get expensive once you add clothes, wigs, makeup, props, prosthetics, and event tickets. Lens.com lists discounts of up to 70% on popular contacts, which can help lower the total before checkout.

Savings can also come from current product discounts, rebate offers, and pack-size pricing when available. Before placing an order, review the product price, quantity, rebate details, shipping, taxes, fees, and final cart total so you know what you are paying.

Prescription Verification With Your Eye Doctor

You do not need to chase down a paper copy before ordering. Enter your eye doctor's name and phone number, and we can contact them directly to verify your contact lens prescription. You can also upload a prescription copy if you already have one.

This is helpful for creepy contacts because even non-corrective novelty lenses still need the right fit. Contact lenses are medical devices, so the product name, base curve, diameter, and prescription status matter, even when the lens is mainly for costume use.

AutoRefill Savings On Future Orders

AutoRefill works best for regular contact lens wearers or anyone who reorders the same lenses for repeat looks. When available for your order, it can help you set repeat deliveries and save 5% on future AutoRefill orders.

You can adjust your refill schedule when your supply, routine, or prescription changes. For one-time costumes, AutoRefill may not be necessary. For repeat cosplay, horror shoots, theater work, or regular contact lens wear, it can make refills easier to manage.

Great but limited visibility

Great for the look I was going for. However, do not wear this product if you need to drive - the only vision is through the pupil area, and it takes a second for the contact to move with your eye.

High Prescription Options!!

The hardest thing about finding appropriate contacts with a higher prescription is that most of them have zero prescription. Lens.com offers great options to those who need to see while looking fabulous for Halloween! Thanks!!

Waste of money

Prescription? Made my vision worse. Unwearable! Couldn’t see my face 2’ from mirror. Would have been better off paying less for non prescription from somewhere else.

Looked great for Halloween

I bought the Lestat contacts for Halloween and got some great feedback from my co-workers and friends. They felt a little weird but I could still out of them considering they are just a novelty contact. Don't recommend wearing them like your normal prescription contacts and would console your optometrist before use. Overall they were great.

Fits well, very striking

The prescription worked nicely and I had no trouble with fit. A pleasant surprise is how the contacts glow under the lights of a dance floor.
