Weird Contact Lenses

Weird contact lenses are decorative contacts that replace natural-looking eye colors with unusual patterns, pupils, colors, and effects. Think spider webs, solid white eyes, cat pupils, fiery irises, fantasy creatures, hypnotic spirals, and other designs you definitely won't find in everyday contacts.

When you're putting something this unusual on your eyes, where you buy it counts. We've sold prescription contacts online since 1995 and carry a large selection of novelty, costume contact lenses, Special FX contacts, and theatrical contacts, backed by prescription verification and 24/7 customer service. Browse our weird contact lenses below, find a design that fits your costume, and save up to 70% on contact lenses at Lens.com.

Are Weird Contact Lenses Safe?

Yes, weird contact lenses can be worn safely when they're prescribed, properly fitted, and cared for correctly. At Lens.com, we sell FDA-approved contact lenses rather than unregulated costume lenses from unknown sellers. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) treats decorative contacts as medical devices, even when they're worn only to change how your eyes look.

That FDA status doesn't mean you can skip proper wear and care. Wash and dry your hands before handling your lenses, use the cleaning and disinfecting system recommended for reusable contact lenses, and never share lenses with another person. Keep them away from tap water, pools, showers, and hot tubs.

Some weird designs also cover more of the eye or use stronger opaque patterns than regular colored contacts. Follow the wearing time your eye doctor gives you and remove the lenses when your eyes become painful, noticeably red, irritated, or unusually blurry. The FDA recommends removing contacts and seeking prompt eye care when symptoms such as ongoing pain, redness, discharge, or decreased vision develop.

Do You Still Need a Prescription for Weird Contacts?

Yes. You need a valid contact lens prescription for weird contacts even when the lenses have 0.00 power and don't correct your eyesight. Federal rules apply to decorative, costume, Halloween, theatrical, and other novelty contacts just as they do to corrective lenses.

Your eye doctor doesn't only check whether you need vision correction. A contact lens fitting also helps determine whether the lens measurements and design work properly with your eyes.

The FDA recommends buying decorative contacts only from sellers that require a prescription and carry FDA-cleared or approved lenses. Avoid websites, costume stores, beauty shops, flea markets, and other sellers willing to ship contacts without checking a prescription.

Best Place to Buy Weird Contacts

A weird design can be fun, but buying it shouldn't mean taking a gamble with your eyes. Look for these signs when choosing where to order novelty contacts.

1. A Contact Lens Retailer With a Long Track Record

Choose a seller that specializes in contact lenses rather than a costume shop that happens to carry them. Lens.com has sold prescription contacts online since 1995.

2. FDA-Approved Novelty Contacts

The retailer should clearly treat novelty contacts as medical devices. Lens.com sells FDA-approved novelty, Halloween, Special FX, and theatrical contact lenses.

3. A Prescription Requirement

A website willing to sell decorative contacts without a prescription is a red flag. The FDA states that all contact lenses, including decorative designs, must be prescribed by a doctor.

4. Plenty of Designs to Compare

A good novelty retailer should give you enough choices to match the costume you're planning. Our current selection includes Dark Angel, White Out, Black Out, Red Vampire, Fire, Black Wolf, Zombie Yellow, Yellow Cat, Spider Web, Psychosis, Bahamut, Dark Elf, Goblin, and many other styles.

5. Clear Product Details

Check the individual listing for the power range, base curve, diameter, package count, replacement schedule, availability, and current price. Some novelty contacts are sold as a single lens rather than a pair, so don't assume one box contains two contacts.

6. Prescription Verification

A legitimate contact lens seller should receive your prescription or verify it with your eye doctor. Similar-looking novelty contacts can have different dimensions and prescription ranges, so one design isn't automatically a substitute for another.

7. Customer Service

Costume contacts can raise questions you don't encounter with an ordinary box of daily lenses. Lens.com has customer service available 24/7 by phone, chat, and email.

Why You Should Shop Weird Contacts at Lens.com

We've been selling prescription contacts online since 1995, and our novelty collection includes everything from subtle supernatural eyes to full costume transformations. You can shop unusual designs while still getting the prescription checks and service you'd expect from a contact lens retailer.

Save Up to 70% on Contact Lenses

Shoppers can save up to 70% on contact lenses at Lens.com. Select novelty contacts also currently show rebates of up to $75, depending on the product and qualifying quantity.

Check the individual listing before ordering since prices, rebates, package counts, and availability can change. Many novelty styles contain only one lens per box, so factor that into the total when you want matching contacts for both eyes.

We Verify Your Prescription

You can upload, fax, or email your contact lens prescription. Don't have a copy nearby? Give us your eye doctor's name and phone number and we'll contact the office for verification.

Under the Federal Trade Commission's Contact Lens Rule, your provider has eight business hours to confirm, correct, or reject a complete verification request. If the prescriber doesn't respond during that period, the prescription can be treated as verified under the rule.

That process applies to weird contacts too. A novelty design still needs to match the product and parameters prescribed for your eyes.

Save 5% With AutoRefill

Eligible contacts can receive 5% off future recurring orders through AutoRefill. You choose the shipment frequency and can change, snooze, or cancel the subscription through your account.

AutoRefill won't make sense for every novelty product, especially contacts bought occasionally for costumes or made-to-order designs. Check your cart to see whether the weird contacts you've chosen qualify.

Renew an Eligible Prescription Online

Existing contact lens wearers who meet the requirements can use our online vision exam to renew an existing prescription. The test takes about 10 minutes, and a board-certified ophthalmologist reviews the results, medical history, and previous prescription before deciding whether to issue a renewal.

The online exam isn't for fitting first-time contact lens wearers, and it doesn't replace a comprehensive in-person eye health exam. First-time wearers still need an in-person contact lens fitting.

From cat eyes and spider webs to zombies, demons, fantasy creatures, and designs that are simply hard to describe, there's plenty to explore. Browse our weird contact lenses, find the style that works with your costume, and order the exact lenses prescribed for your eyes.

Great but limited visibility

Great for the look I was going for. However, do not wear this product if you need to drive - the only vision is through the pupil area, and it takes a second for the contact to move with your eye.

High Prescription Options!!

The hardest thing about finding appropriate contacts with a higher prescription is that most of them have zero prescription. Lens.com offers great options to those who need to see while looking fabulous for Halloween! Thanks!!
