Which 30 Day Contact Lenses Are Popular?

Monthly lens choices depend on your prescription and wearing habits. Biofinity is often considered for breathable monthly wear, while Biofinity Energys is made for wearers who spend long hours on digital devices. AIR OPTIX plus HydraGlyde is another monthly option known for moisture and deposit resistance.

TOTAL30 can appeal to wearers interested in a water-gradient surface, while ACUVUE VITA focuses on monthly comfort through HydraMax Technology. Bausch + Lomb ULTRA is another common monthly lens family, with options for standard vision, astigmatism, and presbyopia.

How Do You Care For 30 Day Contact Lenses?

Monthly contacts need a cleaner routine than daily disposables. Since each pair is reused for several weeks, proper handling helps reduce buildup, irritation, and early replacement.

  • Wash and dry your hands before touching your lenses or eyes.
  • Rub and rinse lenses with the care product your eye care professional recommends.
  • Use fresh disinfecting liquid every time you store lenses.
  • Replace the lens case on the schedule your eye care professional gives you.
  • Throw away the lenses when the monthly replacement date arrives.

Skipping care steps can make monthly contacts feel dry, cloudy, or uncomfortable before the end of the cycle. A clean routine helps protect comfort from the first day to the last day of wear.

Are 30 Day Contact Lenses Cheaper Than Daily Contacts?

30 day contact lenses can cost less per wearing day than some daily disposable lenses, but the final value depends on the product, prescription type, rebates, and care supplies. Monthly lenses require contact lens solution and a storage case, so the box price is not the only cost to compare.

Daily disposables replace every pair after one use, while monthly lenses require cleaning and storage. Wearers who handle lenses carefully can find monthly contacts practical for long-term use, especially when buying larger supplies or using rebates.

Can You Sleep In 30 Day Contact Lenses?

Some monthly lenses have extended-wear approval, but sleep-in wear is not automatic. Your eye care professional must decide whether your eyes can handle overnight contact lens use safely.

Extended-Wear Monthly Lenses

Biofinity, Biofinity Toric, AIR OPTIX plus HydraGlyde, and AIR OPTIX Night & Day Aqua are examples of monthly lens families that can be discussed for extended wear, depending on product labeling and your eye health. Even with approval, overnight wear can raise infection risk.

Daily-Wear Monthly Lenses

Some 30-day lenses are meant for waking hours only. TOTAL30, for example, is generally worn during the day and removed before sleep. If you want fewer care steps at night, ask about daily disposables instead of sleeping in monthly lenses without approval.

How Do You Choose Between Biofinity, AIR OPTIX, ACUVUE VITA, And TOTAL30?

Choosing among monthly lenses should start with your prescription type. Biofinity and ACUVUE VITA can work for single-vision needs, while Biofinity Toric and ACUVUE VITA for Astigmatism are made for astigmatism correction. Biofinity Multifocal and AIR OPTIX plus HydraGlyde Multifocal are built for presbyopia.

Comfort needs also matter. Some wearers care most about breathability, while others focus on deposit resistance, moisture retention, screen comfort, or end-of-month feel. Trial lenses from your eye care professional can show which monthly lens settles best on your eyes.

What Prescription Details Should You Check Before Ordering Monthly Contacts?

Monthly contacts should match your written contact lens prescription exactly. A glasses prescription is not enough, since contacts sit directly on the eye and need lens-specific measurements.

  • Check the product name before choosing a box.
  • Match the right eye and left eye separately.
  • Copy sphere power with the correct plus or minus sign.
  • Add cylinder and axis values for toric lenses.
  • Add ADD power for multifocal lenses.

Prescription details affect vision, fit, and comfort. If one field looks unfamiliar, ask your eye care professional before ordering replacement boxes.

Are Monthly Contacts Good For Dry Eyes?

Monthly contacts can work for some wearers with dryness, but the right choice depends on the cause of the dryness and how your eyes respond during fitting. Silicone hydrogel monthly lenses such as Biofinity, AIR OPTIX plus HydraGlyde, ACUVUE VITA, TOTAL30, and Bausch + Lomb ULTRA are often compared for comfort and breathability.

Dryness can also come from screen use, allergies, indoor air, medication, poor fit, or overwear. If monthly lenses feel dry before the replacement date, your eye care professional can review lens material, care products, wearing time, and whether daily disposables are a better match.

When Should You Replace 30 Day Contact Lenses Early?

A monthly schedule does not mean every lens should stay in use for the full month. Damaged, dirty, or uncomfortable lenses should be replaced sooner.

If The Lens Feels Wrong

Take out the lens if it feels torn, chipped, folded, gritty, or painful. A damaged lens can scratch or irritate your eye, even if the tear looks small.

If Vision Changes Suddenly

Blur, halos, shadowing, or unstable sight can point to deposits, wrong lens positioning, dryness, or prescription issues. Switch to glasses and contact your eye care professional if symptoms remain.

Can You Switch From Daily Contacts To 30 Day Contact Lenses?

Yes, you can switch from daily contacts to 30 day contact lenses if your eye care professional fits you in a monthly product and updates your prescription. The change can reduce the number of lenses you use, but it also adds cleaning, storage, and case care to your routine.

Wearers who like low-maintenance contact lens wear can prefer daily disposables. Wearers who want a reusable schedule, lower cost per wear, or certain toric and multifocal options can discuss monthly lenses during the next exam.

ULTRA for Astigmatism

I have been using B+L SofLens Toric Astigmatism.

After I had been happily using them for decades, I could not reorder my contact lenses since Bausch+Lomb officially discontinued many SofLens® Toric lenses in July  2023.
As my Rx had not changed, my optometrist recommended another manufacturer, which I tried using for months, and was very disappointed.
Then on the Lens.com website, I ordered B+L ULTRA for Astigmatism Contact Lenses, and they seem just the same to me as the discontinued B+L SofLens® Toric contact lens. Now I couldn't be happier!
