What Is the Aqueous Outflow Pathway?
The aqueous outflow pathway is the network that drains aqueous humor from the front of the eye. The conventional route passes through the trabecular meshwork into Schlemm's canal and then into collector channels. A secondary route, the uveoscleral pathway, allows fluid to percolate through the ciliary body toward the suprachoroidal space. Together, these routes regulate intraocular pressure by setting overall drainage resistance.
