What Is Symblepharon?
Symblepharon is an abnormal adhesion between the eyelid's inner lining (palpebral conjunctiva) and the eyeball surface (bulbar conjunctiva). It forms after scarring from inflammation, infection, or injury to the conjunctiva. Mild cases can feel gritty or tight, while severe cases can limit eye movement and affect vision. Care focuses on protecting the eye surface and releasing adhesions when needed.
