What Is Scleroderma (Ocular)?
Ocular scleroderma refers to eye problems that can occur in people with scleroderma (systemic sclerosis). The most common issues involve the eye surface, including dryness and irritation from reduced tear function. Changes in eyelid skin tightness can also affect blinking and tear spread. Some people develop vascular changes that can affect ocular comfort and, less commonly, deeper eye structures. Eye symptoms should be taken seriously because chronic surface disease can harm vision quality over time.
