What Are Kissing LASIK Flap Striae?
Kissing LASIK flap striae are prominent folds in the corneal flap after LASIK surgery where opposing ridges meet or touch each other. They are usually macrostriae that extend across much of the flap and can distort the corneal surface significantly. These folds interfere with the smooth optical interface created by LASIK and often cause blurred or distorted vision. Kissing striae are less common than fine microstriae but more visually significant. Early recognition is important because prompt repositioning gives better results.
