What Is HLA-B27 Uveitis?
HLA-B27 uveitis is a type of eye inflammation most often seen as acute anterior uveitis, affecting the iris and nearby structures. It is linked to the HLA-B27 genetic marker and can occur with or without an associated inflammatory arthritis condition. Flares often start suddenly and can be painful, red, and light-sensitive. Episodes frequently recur, sometimes alternating between eyes. Because inflammation can raise eye pressure and affect vision, prompt treatment and follow-up are important.
