What Is Unilateral Esotropia?
Unilateral esotropia is a form of strabismus where one eye turns inward toward the nose while the other eye fixates more consistently. It can be intermittent or constant and may begin in infancy, childhood, or adulthood depending on the cause. In children, the brain may suppress the turned eye to avoid double vision, which can lead to amblyopia. In adults, sudden esotropia often causes noticeable double vision and needs prompt evaluation.
