What Is Trigger Finger Release?
Trigger finger release is a hand procedure that opens the A1 pulley so a flexor tendon can glide freely at the base of a finger or thumb. Trigger finger develops when a thickened tendon or narrowed pulley causes catching, clicking, or locking during motion. Releasing the constricted pulley removes the mechanical bottleneck while preserving the rest of the flexor pulley system. The procedure can be performed through a small open incision or with a percutaneous release technique in selected patients.
