Color Order

The order of colors, from shortest to longest wavelength, is commonly remembered by the mnemonic ROY G BIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, though Indigo is often omitted).

Ocular Absorption

Energy outside this spectrum (UV and IR) is largely absorbed by the ocular media (cornea and lens), which prevents it from reaching the retina but poses damage risks to those structures.

Peak Sensitivity

The human eye is most sensitive to light in the yellow-green region, around $555 ext{ nm}$, under bright light conditions.

Is infrared visible?

No. Infrared ($750 ext{ nm}$ and longer) is generally not visible, though some very near-infrared wavelengths can sometimes be perceived under specific conditions.

What is the danger of blue light?

High-energy visible (HEV) blue light (near the UV range) is a concern due to its potential to damage retinal cells through oxidative stress.

What is 'Color Blindness'?
