What Is the Uvea?
The uvea is the eye's middle vascular layer, made up of the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. It supplies blood, controls pupil size, and fine-tunes focus through the lens. Inflammation of this layer, uveitis, can cause pain, light sensitivity, and blurred vision. Prompt evaluation prevents scarring and complications like glaucoma or cataract. Care targets the cause and calms inflammation.
