What Is Retrobulbar Hemorrhage?
Retrobulbar hemorrhage is bleeding behind the eyeball within the orbit. The trapped blood can raise pressure inside the orbit and push the eye forward. When pressure rises enough, it can reduce blood flow to the optic nerve and retina. This can lead to rapid, permanent vision loss without urgent care. It most often happens after facial trauma, eye surgery, or procedures around the orbit.
