What Is Reis-B?cklers Dystrophy?
Reis B?cklers dystrophy is a rare inherited corneal dystrophy that primarily affects Bowman layer and the superficial stroma. Abnormal deposits replace the normal tissue in this zone, leading to recurrent corneal erosions and progressive surface irregularity. Children often present with painful episodes when the epithelial surface breaks down. Over time, central corneal opacities can blur vision and cause glare. The condition usually affects both eyes and follows an autosomal dominant pattern.
