What Is Kyphosis?
Kyphosis is a condition characterized by an excessive forward rounding of the upper back (thoracic spine), often resulting in what is commonly called a "hunchback" or, in older adults, a Dowager's Hump. While a small degree of rounding is normal, Kyphosis refers to a curvature that is significantly exaggerated, leading to a visibly slouched or stooped posture. This unnatural curvature can cause back pain, stiffness, and breathing difficulties in severe cases.
