What Is Keratosis Pilaris (KP)?
Keratosis Pilaris (KP) is an extremely common, non-contagious skin condition that causes tiny, rough bumps that often resemble goosebumps or "chicken skin." These bumps usually appear on the backs of the upper arms, thighs, cheeks, and buttocks. The bumps are small plugs of dead skin cells (keratin) blocking the hair follicles. KP is benign, meaning it is harmless, but it can be cosmetically frustrating for those who have it.
