What Is Hypothermia?
Hypothermia is a medical emergency that occurs when your body loses heat faster than it can produce it, causing a dangerously low body temperature, typically below 95?F (35?C). Normal body functions rely on a core temperature of around 98.6?F (37?C). As your core temperature drops, your nervous system, organs, and heart cannot function properly, leading to confusion, shivering, and potentially cardiac arrest.
