What Is Herpetic Uveitis?
Herpetic uveitis is inflammation inside the eye caused by a herpes virus, most often herpes simplex virus (HSV) or varicella-zoster virus (VZV). It can affect the iris, ciliary body, or other uveal tissue, and it often comes with pain, redness, and light sensitivity. Some cases happen with obvious skin or corneal signs, while others look like ?regular? uveitis until testing or exam clues point to herpes. Pressure inside the eye can rise during an episode, which is one reason eye doctors take it seriously. Treatment usually targets the virus and the inflammation at the same time.
