What is Conjuctivitis?
Pink eye is when the thin, clear tissue covering your eye and inside your eyelid gets irritated or infected. This tissue is called the conjunctiva. When you have pink eye, your eye looks red or pink, feels irritated, and makes extra tears. You might also have sticky discharge that makes your eyelids stick together when you wake up. Pink eye can happen because of germs, viruses, allergies, or things that irritate your eyes. Most cases are mild and get better on their own.
