What Is Bulging Eye Disease?
Bulging eye disease, also called exophthalmos or proptosis, is forward displacement of one or both eyes from the orbit. The condition can be subtle or dramatic and may cause dryness, exposure, or double vision. Thyroid eye disease is the most common adult cause, but tumors, inflammation, and vascular lesions are other possibilities. Early evaluation identifies vision threatening complications.
