What Is An External Pacemaker?
An external pacemaker is a temporary pacing device that sends electrical impulses to help the heart beat at a safer rate or rhythm. It is used outside the body and can support the heart during urgent or short-term situations. External pacing can be done through pads on the chest or through pacing wires placed into or near the heart. It is used by trained medical staff with continuous monitoring.
