What is Albinism?
Albinism is a rare genetic condition with little to no melanin, the pigment that colors skin, hair, and eyes. It is present from birth and occurs in all groups. Low melanin affects eye development and function, which can lead to reduced clarity, light sensitivity, and abnormal eye movements. Albinism does not cause total blindness. Ongoing eye care and sun protection help you stay comfortable.
