What Is a Secondary Membrane?
A secondary membrane is clouding of the thin lens capsule left in place after cataract surgery, also called posterior capsular opacification. The capsule sits behind the artificial lens implant, and it can turn hazy months or years after surgery. This can cause blurred vision and glare that feel similar to the original cataract. A quick laser procedure can clear the central axis and sharpen vision again.
