What Is a Nebular Cornea?
A nebular cornea is a cornea with a faint, hazy scar that partially obscures the view of the underlying iris but still allows details to be seen. The opacity usually lies in the superficial or mid stroma and often follows prior keratitis, trauma, or ulceration. Unlike dense leucomas, nebular scars cause only mild light scatter. Visual impact depends on size, density, and proximity to the visual axis. Many nebular opacities are incidental findings during routine exams.
