What Is a Glaucoma Implant?
A glaucoma implant is a device placed in the eye to improve fluid drainage and lower pressure. It usually includes a small tube connected to a plate resting under the outer membrane of the eye. Fluid flows through the tube and collects around the plate, where surrounding tissue absorbs it. This process helps protect the optic nerve from pressure-related damage. Implants are used when drops or laser procedures no longer work well.
