What Is Superior Capsular Reconstruction?
Superior capsular reconstruction is shoulder surgery used to restore stability when a massive rotator cuff tear cannot be repaired directly. A graft is attached between the upper glenoid and the greater tuberosity of the humerus to recreate the superior capsule. The reconstruction helps resist upward migration of the humeral head during shoulder movement. It is usually performed arthroscopically and is intended to preserve the native shoulder joint.
