What Is Scotopic Vision?
Scotopic vision is the type of vision used in very low light, such as at night or in dark rooms, when illumination is too dim for color perception. It depends on rod photoreceptor cells in the retina, which are highly sensitive to light but cannot distinguish color. This form of vision allows humans to detect shapes, movement, and contrast in dim conditions but with reduced sharpness compared to daylight vision.
