What Is Quantitative OCT Angiography?
Quantitative OCT angiography measures retinal and choroidal blood flow by analyzing motion contrast in sequential OCT scans. Algorithms calculate vessel density, perfusion, and flow index values for each retinal layer. These numerical outputs help detect microvascular changes earlier than visible structural loss. Clinicians use it to monitor diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular disease.
