What Is Lens Tint?
Lens tint is a color filter added to eyeglass or sunglass lenses to change how much visible light reaches the eyes. Tints can reduce brightness, improve contrast in certain conditions, or serve a cosmetic style purpose. Tint darkness is measured by visible light transmission (VLT), which is the percent of light that passes through the lens. Tint color and VLT do not automatically mean UV protection, so the label matters.
