How Does Ebglyss Block IL-13 Signaling?

Lebrikizumab-lbkz binds interleukin-13 and inhibits signaling through the IL-4 receptor alpha and IL-13 receptor alpha 1 complex. IL-13 contributes to type 2 inflammation involved in atopic dermatitis. Blocking this signaling reduces IL-13-induced inflammatory responses.

Who Is Treated With Ebglyss?

Ebglyss is used for moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in adults and patients age 12 and older who weigh at least 40 kg. It can be used with or without topical corticosteroids. Age-appropriate vaccinations are completed before treatment, and live vaccines are avoided immediately before and during therapy.

How Is Ebglyss Dosed?

The starting dose is 500 mg as two 250 mg injections at week 0 and week 2. Treatment then continues with 250 mg every two weeks until week 16 or later when adequate clinical response is reached. Maintenance treatment is 250 mg every four weeks or every eight weeks under the June 2026 label.

What Serious Risks Are Linked to Ebglyss?

Serious concerns include hypersensitivity reactions such as angioedema and urticaria, conjunctivitis, keratitis, and parasitic infections. Pre-existing helminth infections are treated before Ebglyss begins. If a helminth infection does not respond to treatment during therapy, Ebglyss is stopped until the infection resolves.
