What Is Decentration (IOL or Lens)?
Decentration refers to a shift where an intraocular lens or other implanted lens moves away from its intended position. Instead of sitting directly behind the pupil, the lens drifts to one side or tilts slightly. This can change how light enters the eye, creating blur or shadowed areas in vision. Some people also notice glare or uneven clarity in certain directions. Exams help identify how far the lens has shifted and whether the position affects daily sight.
