What Is Biceps Tendon Repair?
Biceps tendon repair is surgery that reattaches a torn biceps tendon to bone to restore muscle function. The term most commonly refers to repair of a distal biceps rupture at the elbow, where the tendon is reattached to the radial tuberosity. Repair can restore elbow flexion and forearm supination strength that is lost after a complete distal rupture. Proximal long-head biceps tears at the shoulder are treated differently and, when surgery is needed, are more commonly managed with biceps tenodesis than direct repair to the original attachment.
