What Is Adjuvant Therapy?
Adjuvant therapy is additional cancer treatment given after the main treatment to lower the risk of the cancer returning. The primary treatment is commonly surgery, although the sequence can differ by cancer type. Adjuvant treatment targets cancer cells that can remain in the body but are too small to detect on imaging or other tests. It can include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy.
