What Causes A Swollen Lacrimal Gland?
Swelling of the lacrimal gland is often linked to inflammation, infection, or autoimmune activity. Acute dacryoadenitis may be caused by viruses or bacteria and tends to develop quickly with pain and tenderness. Chronic swelling can be associated with systemic inflammatory or autoimmune conditions. More rarely, tumors or lymphoproliferative disease affect the gland.
