How Many People With Meibomian Gland Dysfunction Regularly Use Eye Makeup?
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction is a chronic condition causing poor quality of the oil (lipid) layer of the tear film, leading to dry eye. While it affects over 85 percent of dry eye patients, a large fraction of these patients (estimates suggest over 70 percent of symptomatic women) continue to use eye makeup regularly. This common practice can severely exacerbate their underlying condition.
