Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lens Reviews
Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses
One of the main concerns for those who wear contact lenses is comfort. For decades, many contact lens wearers found that they just couldn’t endure the discomfort that was typically associated with contacts. This began to change in the 1960s and 70s when the first soft hydrogel contact lenses were launched. These soft contact lenses improved oxygen permeability, lens wettability, and overall comfort for wearers. Despite these advances, it wasn’t until 1998 that silicone hydrogel contact lenses became available to the public and contact lens comfort became commonplace.
Silicone hydrogel contacts have an extremely high oxygen permeability, with up to five times more oxygen reaching the cornea than with traditional hydrogel lenses. In 2013, silicone hydrogels accounted for 66% of all contact lens fittings in the U.S., compared to only 24% for regular soft contact lenses. The popularity of silicone hydrogel contacts is due to their effectiveness and higher levels of comfort relative to other types of contacts.
Silicone hydrogel contacts enable lens wearers to keep their lenses in for longer periods of time, known as extended wear, with a much lower risk of hypoxia. Hypoxia is when the cornea’s oxygen supply is significantly reduced—hypoxia is responsible for problems including red eyes, corneal swelling, blurred vision, and general eye discomfort. It can also increase the risk for a number of different eye infections. By significantly increasing the amount of oxygen that reaches the cornea, silicone hydrogel contact lenses increase the safety of both daily wear and extended wear of soft contact lenses.
Silicone hydrogel contact lenses are also useful in the design of specialty contacts. For example, the greater lens mass necessary for the design of toric lenses benefit from using silicone hydrogel material. This has enabled contact lens manufacturers to develop a wider variety of lens designs while still ensuring a healthy amount of oxygen reaches the cornea. Many of the most popular brands of contact lenses are silicone hydrogels including Acuvue Oasys, Air Optix Aqua, and Biofinity. The best way to determine if silicone hydrogel contacts are the right choice for you is to discuss all possible contact lens options with your eye care professional.

Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lens Reviews
I like these new Focus night and day contacts, they are thin so that they are comfortable, they also curl in on themselves very easily.
The feeling of wearing Acuvue Advance contacts is like not wearing anything at all! They are that comfortable. I usually rub at my eyes or get red eyes from wearing contacts, but not so with these! I am happy to wear them!
Whatever is in O2 Optix lenses that keep my eyes moist, I love it! I've never had a contact lens that was able to keep my eyes this moist all day long.
Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism contact lenses are excellent! I love how comfortable my eyes feel. I usually have problems with dryness or irritation, making me take off my contacts mid-day, but I found I could wear these straight through!
PureVision contact lenses made my eyes feel really great all day long, and I love how easy they are to wear and use. I also really like how I can leave them in, so if I'm on vacation or traveling I don't have to worry about where to store my contacts.
I was wearing this contact lenses for 1 year and they are confortable.

OMG I love these so much! They are not constantly getting dry or bothering me nor do I feel them every time I blink! I honestly forgot I had contacts in every time I've worn them. I used to use Dialies and those compared to these are crap. I will always recommend Air Optix!
I struggled with dry eyes with Acuvue Oasis lenses and my Dr. gave my these lens to try and they have been wonderful. My eyes are a lot less dry after a long day outside.
Worth a try!
Avaira is a wonderful contact! I really enjoy the fact that they are easy to use, easy to wear and great for my eyes. They offer a lot of perks such as UV protection and high moisture content, so you know your eyes will be healthy the whole time!
The Oasys lenses are the best for my dry sensitive eyes and dry climate. The price is HALF what the sales person at the eye doctor wanted to charge! Don't let them pressure you at the Drs office, take your prescription and buy them here.
I was shocked at what a great deal lens.com had for the Air Optix lenses. 1/3 of the price at the doctors, and 1/2 the price of other online retailers. My lenses came today (days ahead of schedule!) and they seem to be in perfect condition. Very pleased with my decision to go with lens.com!
I highly recommend Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia contacts for anyone looking for high quality lenses. These are super comfortable, and never leave your eyes feeling dry.
Best contacts I've ever worn, lasting longer. These are the ONLY contacts I've worn that after a week or so when I take them off for awhile my eyes aren't watery, red or hurt meaning they must allow a lot more air thru. Actually I was pretty upset with my eye doctor that these weren't recommended first!! Especially when the ones I bought before wer...
These are the best lenses I have ever worn. Never a problem with them at all. I take them out every 3 or 4 days for a night. You don't even know you have them in!!! I tell anyone I know who wears contacts to try these!!!
I have worn glasses for half of my life, being near sighted, far sighted and having astigmatism, I felt like I was truly disabled. I love my Multi-focal air optix! I can see again.
I would highly recommend 1-Day Acuvue TruEye contacts to anyone in the market for contacts. I am a long time wearer of these, and have never had a problem with them.
Needing to see both near and far makes finding a good contact hard. I tried out PureVision 2 HD contact lenses, and finally found my match! I can see clearly at all distances, and now I don't need to worry about bringing along extra glasses 'just in case'!
These are so comfortable! Avaira Toric contacts are unparalleled when it comes to comfort. They have a special moisturized, and my eyes can really feel the difference! I no longer feel like I need to take them out and put in eye drops.
