PMMA Reviews -
A Happy PMMA Lens Wearer and Lens.com Customer!
I've been a happy PMMA lens wearer for over 30+ years! They worked well for me throughout the years, so I didn't find the need to switch to soft lenses. Last year, I lost my left lens and ordered a replacement lens through Lens.com for the first time. I was very happy with their price, service, and product. The lens fit perfectly! Recently, I needed to order a replacement lens again, but the new lens I received did not fit me comfortably for some reason. I contacted Lens.com and their service was terrific! They were hassle-free, and I received my replacement lens within a few days, and the new lens fit perfectly!! I would, definitely, recommend Lens.com to anyone looking to purchase replacement contact lenses. They are low priced, friendly, efficient and...they stand by their satisfaction guarantee!! Thank you Lens.com! You're the BEST!!
I recommend the PMMA!
When I told my doctor that I wanted to try a gas permeable contact lens he immediately recommended the PMMA. He said he had been wearing it for 6 years and he loved it. I took his recommendation and got a pair of my own. He was definitely right. Right away I knew what he was talking about. I have never worn such a comfortable contact lens. My doctor definitely knows what he is talking about!
These are great contacts. The PMMA lenses give me great sight and great comfort all at once. Its so nice not to have to squint to see and be able to do other things I normally couldn't because of my bad vision. These contact lenses took care of all of that for me! Shopping online I got a great discount price, but even if I paid my high doctors price, it still would have been worth the cost.
Soft contact lenses have become all the rage in recent years, but they certainly have their challenges, not the least of which is fragility. The softer the lenses are, the more difficult they become to handle, which means that they donít last long and can be incredibly frustrating to deal with. For those who want to avoid the hassle of fiddling with flimsy lenses there are still hard contact lenses on the market and theyíre not like the hard contacts of the past. PMMA contact lenses by Optical Polymer Research are well respected in the contact lens world as they have been around for a long time. That longevity means these lenses have a ton of research behind them.
Unlike the original hard lenses, the current PMMA lens is permeable, allowing high levels of oxygen to pass through the lenses and get to the cornea. Amazingly, these modern day hard contact lenses allow more oxygen to pass through them than traditional soft contacts. Oxygen transmission is important because it is necessary to keep eyes healthy and clear. Manufactured from polymethyl methacrylate, or PMMA for short, this material is highly durable and particularly useful in creating lenses that are stable on the eye. Additionally, soft lenses contain water, which increases the likelihood of bacteria building up on lenses and causing an infection. Made from 100 percent polymer (alphafilcon A) PMMA contacts are strong, stable, and breathable and promote eye health. Despite not having any water content themselves, PMMA contacts are very wettable.
Since these lenses are so resilient, thereís no need to replace them as often as you would with soft contact lenses. To keep eyes in optimal health, PMMA contact lenses need to be removed, cleaned, and stored at the end of each day. After a yearís worth of daily wear, PMMA contacts should be replaced. As with other types of contact lenses, itís best to stick with your eye doctorís recommended replacement schedule, as it may differ from the replacement schedule thatís recommended by the manufacturer.
As these are gas permeable contact lenses, each PMMA lens is custom created to your specific prescription. This means that PMMA contacts provide exactly what your eyes require for clear vision. Even better, with such an infrequent replacement schedule, wearing PMMA contacts can be a big money saver and, when you shop with Lens.com, you can save even more money. With hassle-free returns, 100% money-back customer satisfaction, and quick shipping, you canít go wrong with purchasing your contact lenses from Lens.com.
